Overview for 2012

With the winds of change blowing fiercely at our backs, we move turbulently and noisily into a mutable, fluid, disorganized year, where re-set buttons and assemblage points get pushed and re-arranged, tipping points
get tipped and the old makes way for the new on an unprecedented scale. Nothing is likely to feel too gentle or subtle. What needs transforming will be very obvious, where new solutions, since they are still in the gestation stages, may seem slow in coming. At the same time however, brilliant flashes of creative innovation are blossoming and will continue to pop through, harnessing the energy that is being released as old structures and patterns deconstruct. The years of 2012-2015 are a collective deconstruction cycle, clearing the decks for a construction cycle to follow from 2016-2027. But seeds are being planted now. Many of us will catch the wave of released energy this year and channel it into dazzling manifestations, as 2012 presents us with both destruction and creative genius.

The biggest challenge we will face is how we deal with the unknown, our
fear of uncertainty. How do we manage inner and outer disruptions with mindfulness? How do we navigate the edges of our experience with ease?
We will need to make friends with chaos and align with it in a positive way. For example, imagine the energy of chaos as a dynamic, colorful, present moment experience, much like traveling on a vacation to a foreign country. There is structure in place with the tickets and reservations, but it's a given that those things could shift on a moment's notice. You can move into a mindset of flexibility which frees you from becoming upset when plans change. Suddenly your journey becomes an exciting adventure where
you are able to live in the moment and take in unfamiliar surroundings. The energies of 2012 will make the familiar seem unfamiliar and the unfamiliar seem familiar. When you are comfortable in accepting what's uncomfortable, messy and disorganized, even in the smallest of doses, you can move forward knowing that all is well.

Dynamic shifts of power
Collectively we are facing a global identity crisis, a transformation of global psychology and human relationships at every level. It will move global culture in decidedly more idealistic and spiritual directions, galvanizing reform, protest and liberation movements across the world. It will bring a sharp rise in the number and intensity of rallies, marches, parades and demonstrations of all kinds, which will eventually lead to the reorganization of society at all levels. Idealism is a powerful force and it is often irrational and undisciplined. At least a hint of chaos will enter world affairs, which will become fluid, unpredictable and very difficult to control. This will tend to make all kinds
of boundaries flexible and porous, resulting in population shifts and shifting national borders.

Driving the engine of the call for reform is the untenable gap between the haves and have nots. This year we are looking at the beginnings of a lengthy, in-depth transformation of the global economic system. The forces of change are almost certain to saturate world consciousness in revolutionary, transformational energies aimed at profound, thorough reform of the global economic and political system, with all the turmoil that that implies. World leaders will be pushed relentlessly and repeatedly by events to look long,
hard and deeply into the causes of the world's economic problems. They will be compelled to develop a new and more just economic system that creates genuine and enduring wealth, and wealth that is more fairly distributed.

The world will not fall quickly back into old, comfortable but seriously dysfunctional economic patterns after a brief period of market turmoil. World leaders might soon succeed in getting the economic gears to turn again, or
in preventing a truly catastrophic economic collapse. But they will not restore true economic health until certain fundamental issues of economic fairness and justice have been addressed effectively. Progress in this arena will allow human relations and global affairs to express the higher spiritual values that reside within all of us. These reforms will come about only by destroying existing forms, sometimes gently, sometimes not. Yet their destruction will
be a necessary ingredient in bringing about real and substantive change in
the global economic system. It may be several more years before these disruptive effects subside and the changes that they caused can take root for a new global normalcy be established.

Personal growth
More than any other aspect, we have the opportunity this year to feel more
of our multi-dimensionality and connection to Spirit. When we aren't relying on our intellects to make sense of what's going on in our lives and in the world, we can relax and absorb a great deal of information through our bodies and energy fields. We discover that we know things without it having to make sense. Our senses, bodies, feelings, energy fields and intuition have been working fine all along, but more of us are trusting the messages. This
is the time to suspend disbelief in the miraculous. Ask Spirit for what you really want. If it's meant to be yours, it will be.
