Overview for 2010

Kay Kamala

While meditating on the energies of this year, a vivid image appeared in my minds-eye of a large group of people standing on a riverbank, about to make
a dangerous crossing to the other side. The mood of the group was anxious, fearful and excited at the prospect of such an adventure. They knew there was no turning back and moving forward across the rough, fast moving water was imperative. Not all of their gear was in great shape and they had to make due with what they had on hand. The group had to improvise, be adaptable, alert and creative as they began the journey across. Everyone was aware that their success would come if they worked together, stayed calm and collected, and above all, remained in the present moment.

We too are collectively making a treacherous crossing into unknown and unchartered territory which is requiring the best of us: our talents, our vitality, our wisdom, our inspired vision and our heart of compassion. It isn't a question of whether or not we will make it across to the other side, but how gracefully the passage is made: will it be total chaos or a thrilling adventure? The
answer lies in what we dream for our future and this is a year where those dreams get reinvented.

The organizing principle of the year is illumination which is asking us
to make choices that bring more light and energy to something.

We will want to enter this year understanding the power of our choices, and take the high road, rather than loosing our footing by dwelling in negativity
and fear. Every choice matters, every minute. We create the world we live in and contribute to it through our power of choice. The opportunities for making
a positive difference in our lives and the lives of others are bountiful this year as we use our skills in a passionate and creative way toward something that really matters to us. We will commit to what we love and allow the non-essentials to drop away.

Globally, we are right on schedule with the themes of change and transformation. Our perceptions of reality will be shifting as we begin to open up to what is possible. It's a significant year for assembling and reassembling structure and matter....anything solid, allowing invention and resourcefulness
to replace what has dissolved. Dazzling and innovative technology will continue to proliferate. We are likely to see a continuation of failures and crashes in any corrupted system or organization that is stubbornly holding onto an obsolete mind-set. (See article Weather Report 2009-2010).

One area that is due for an overhaul is the way in which we exchange and interpret news and information. For decades we have relied on media pundits
to interpret events for us, which is one way we collectively are manipulated.
As we raise our frequency we are less willing to be manipulated by anyone.
The internet and blogs have altered this to a great degree yet news conglomerates remain more powerful than ever. We don't think about
this much until it gets to the ridiculous proportions of 'grey news' and fabrications that we have now and many people are growing weary of it.
We are slowly moving toward having world events interpreted by artists
and shamans who have always been there expressing themselves, but have remained in the shadows, not taken seriously. This is a long arc of transition
but 2010 will bring many artists out into more light and acceptability.

At the personal level, you will want to take a look around you and see
what elements in your life are an old creation, something that has run its
course of vitality and gone flat. You will be supported this year in revitalizing something, bringing fresh energy to it in a new way, or letting it dissolve and using the energy from its demise to create something new. You will want to
be ruthless taking inventory and rid yourself of what you have no passion for. Because there is so much active, moving energy to the year, you may feel restless and want to change where you live, work, your appearance, or make over anything that feels dull and lifeless.

The energies of this year are intensely spiritual, fluid and porous. These influences are ideal for personal transformation work of any kind, as long as
it doesn't involve too much intellect. Logic and reason are taking a back seat
to intuitive impulse as a way of manifesting something in your life. The better strategy for getting things done is to just dive in when the mood strikes rather than trying to plan the 'perfect' time to do something.

This is not the year to go it alone. You will want and need the support and energetic exchange of your support circles and community in order to feel connected. If you are feeling too isolated, move out into some activity that
will allow you to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Devote yourself
to a project or a goal that includes like-minded people.
